Carers IW 

Is the Isle of Wight’s local charity dedicated to unpaid adult carers. For over 30 years the organisation has offered

 practical, emotional and advocacy support to people who care for family members, friends or neighbours. 

Carers IW combines one‑to‑one casework, carers assessments and signposting with regular groups, training and 

wellbeing activities so carers can get immediate help and build longer‑term resilience.

Carers IW’s services

One‑to‑one support and carers assessments to identify practical needs, make a plan and access local services.

Peer groups and specialist training that build confidence, reduce isolation and help carers develop practical skills.

Resilience workshops, mental‑health drop‑ins, self‑care cafes and quiet days to protect carers’ wellbeing.

Hospital Carers Lounges at St Mary’s Hospital and Sevenacres to give carers a calm space, immediate advice and 

practical help when a loved one is admitted.

Practical signposting on benefits, advocacy, contingency planning, dementia support and other common issues 

carers face.

How Carers IW helps 

In a crisis and day to day Carers IW’s crisis and planning support helps carers prepare for unexpected events with 

contingency plans, emergency contact lists and practical guidance on managing medical appointments and 

hospital stays. In day‑to‑day life the charity reduces friction by connecting carers with local groups, respite

 opportunities and benefits advice so care remains sustainable and safe.

Who it’s for 

Carers IW supports unpaid adult carers who live on the Isle of Wight or care for someone who does. Services are 

delivered with respect for carers’ time and privacy, with a mix of phone, email and face‑to‑face options to suit 

different needs and levels of mobility or digital confidence.
